Design with Native and Edible Plants
A garden that nourishes. At Eco-Construction Medellín, we design landscapes that celebrate the diversity of Colombian flora, selecting native species from the Andean region and the coffee-growing zone. These plants are perfectly adapted to the local climate, which reduces water consumption and the need for intensive maintenance. We incorporate seasonal vegetable gardens, fruit trees like soursop, coffee, and avocado, and traditional medicinal plants like eucalyptus and nettle, creating a productive space that serves both the family and the community. The integration of biodiversity corridors and the planting of species in layers (trees, shrubs, and hardware) promotes the attraction of pollinators and birds, turning the garden into a living and self-sufficient ecosystem.
